Tasmania Distillery was established in 1994, after 153 years of prohibition imposed by Governor John Franklin at the urging of his wife Lady Jane ? who was pro-temperance. The distillery was founded in Sullivans Cove, Hobart on the Derwent River and from these humble beginnings twenty years later, Tasmania Distillery received the ultimate reassurance that they were onto something good, winning ?Worlds Best Single Malt? in the 2014 World Whisky Awards (WWA).

Specialising in Single Malt Whisky, Tasmania Distillery is now looking to apply its expertise to other premium spirit categories such as Small Batch Gin. In 2016 the distillery released Hobart No.4, a Tasmanian Dry Gin crafted form high quality malted barley spirit and enriched with four native Australian botanicals; lemon myrtle, anise myrtle, lanceolata & wattleseed.
